PUNTA GORDA, Fla. — More than 80 military recruits will raise their right hands and take the oath of enlistment Saturday, Nov. 7, during the Florida International Air Show’s opening ceremonies at Punta Gorda Airport.
More than 100 family members and friends are expected to watch as the recruits pledge to support and defend the Constitution of the United States. The swearing-in will be part of the opening ceremonies, scheduled from 11 to 11:30 a.m.
The ceremony will give air show guests an opportunity to recognize the recruits’ commitment to their country and the families supporting them as they prepare for military service.
“Watching these recruits raise their right hands and pledge to serve our country will be one of the most meaningful moments of this year’s air show,” said Denise Dull, president of the Florida International Air Show. “Their commitment reminds us that the strength of our nation begins with people willing to serve. We are proud to honor these recruits and the families standing behind them.”
An authorized officer will lead the recruits in reciting the oath together, marking a milestone in their military journey. The public pledge carries responsibilities rooted in duty, service and allegiance to the nation.
For families watching from the crowd, the moment will be personal. For veterans and current service members in attendance, the familiar words will connect a new generation of recruits with those who have served before them.
Guests are encouraged to arrive early and be in place before the opening ceremonies begin at 11 a.m. Gates open at 9 a.m. The swearing-in ceremony will take place Saturday only.
