On The Ground, at the FIAS 2025

At the Florida International Airshow, not only will you witness thrilling aerial performances, but you’ll also have the chance to explore a wide variety of historic and unique aircraft on the ground. These static displays provide a rare opportunity to get up close and personal with some of aviation’s most iconic planes.

Doc is a B-29

Doc is a B-29 Superfortress and one of 1,644 manufactured in Wichita during World War II. Since 1987 when Tony Mazzolini found Doc on sitting and rotting away in the Mojave Desert, plans have been in the works to restore the historic warbird to flying status to serve as a flying museum.

Over the past 15+ years, hundreds of volunteers have worked on Doc and the restoration project. Skilled workers and retirees from Wichita’s aviation industry, veterans, active duty military and others wanting to honor those who served, have spent tens of thousands of hours on Doc’s restoration. Countless individuals and organizations also made financial and in-kind contributions to keep the project going!

The Old Crow. The World's Only Talking Biplane

The Boeing Stearman is one of the most famous biplanes in the world. Stearmans are highly practical flying machines due to their smart, 1930's design and their simplicity of use. This classic plane, designed by Lloyd Stearman, did earn her reputation as “The biplane built like a truck that flies like an angel”. Flying legends like these proved to be valuable as mail plane, airmen trainer and crop duster. The Old Crow is one of the few flying Boeing Stearmans in The Netherlands.

N2-S3

This N2-S3 was originally delivered to the U.S. Navy in 1943 as a primary trainer, serving at NAS Pasco, Livermore, Norman, and finally NAS Glenview. After its decommission in 1946, N62438 began a new career as an agricultural sprayer with a Pratt & Whitney R985 (450 HP) Wasp Jr. engine. In the mid-1980s, Air Repair restored the aircraft back to Standard category, reinstalling its Continental R670 and returning it to its classic U.S. Navy livery—where it proudly remains today.
