2025 Earn Your Wings Program Success
Last year’s Earn Your Wings Reading Program took us to Sallie Jones Elementary, Peace River Elementary, and Bloom Academy, where students explored the exciting world of aviation. From learning about the incredible aircraft and performers coming to the Florida International Airshow to putting their skills to the test in a paper airplane challenge, the energy in every classroom was contagious.
We’re grateful for our partnership with the Charlotte Community Foundation and the Charlotte County Libraries for helping bring this program to young readers and inspiring the next generation to discover the possibilities of aviation and STEM.
2023 Earn Your Wings Program Success
Here's a look back at 2023's Earn Your Wings program, where we had the privilege of visiting Sallie Jones Elementary and Peace River Elementary! We had a blast talking with students about aviation, the exciting performers coming to the show, and even hosted a fun paper airplane race. The kids were thrilled to learn more about aviation, and their excitement was contagious! We’re proud to have partnered with FPL to bring this program to young readers, sparking interest in aviation at an early age.
2023 FIAS & FPL Educational Collaboration
At the 2023 Florida International Airshow (FIAS), a fantastic collaboration between FIAS and FPL brought exciting educational opportunities to students. FPL sponsored the "Drones in School" program, engaging middle and high school students in aeronautics, engineering, project management, and marketing. As part of the event, these students showcased their skills during a drone scrimmage on November 4, thrilling attendees with their hands-on STEM expertise. Additionally, collegiate drone pilots demonstrated high-speed drone racing, providing an inspiring glimpse into aviation technology and career paths.
FPL’s involvement also extended to the popular "Earn Your Wings" reading program for K-5th grade students in Charlotte County. Thousands of students participated, earning free access to the airshow, where they were introduced to the world of aviation.
FPL’s commitment to fostering a career-ready workforce was evident through their sponsorship of educational displays, including drones from FPLAir, FPL’s growing drone fleet, and electric vehicles, helping to highlight the intersection of technology, aviation, and environmental innovation. This collaboration not only elevated the airshow experience but also inspired the next generation of aviation enthusiasts and professionals.
