Air show pilot Aarron Deliu shares passion for aviation with Deep Creek Elementary students
International aerobatic performer brings worldwide flying experiences into Punta Gorda classroom

PUNTA GORDA, Fla. — Internationally acclaimed aerobatic pilot Aarron Deliu, a featured performer at the 2026 Florida International Air Show, visited Deep Creek Elementary School to share his passion for aviation and give students an inside look at his experiences performing around the world.
Deliu answered students’ questions, discussed his flying experiences and explained what audiences can expect when he takes to the skies over Punta Gorda Airport in November. The visit brought aviation into the classroom, connecting the excitement of an air show with an opportunity to learn directly from a professional pilot.
Students had the opportunity to ask questions as Deliu spoke beside a large screen displaying flight footage and cockpit views. He pointed out details on the screen, helping students connect his explanations with the experience of flying an aerobatic aircraft.
Deliu described the agile Extra 330SC he flies and the aerobatic maneuvers featured in his performance. He also explained his interactive cockpit-to-ground commentary, which allows spectators to hear from him during the flight and follow the action from the pilot’s perspective.
The visit included time for personal connections. Deliu autographed a photograph for each student, leaning across classroom tables to sign the keepsakes. Smiles and a high-five captured in the photographs reflected the welcoming atmosphere as students met a performer they can see at the upcoming air show.
Deelynn Bennett, director of education and STEM for the Florida International Air Show board, works with community partners to connect young people with aviation and learning through the Jet, Set, Read program. Presented in partnership with Charlotte County Community Services and the Charlotte Community Foundation, the initiative encourages school-aged children to explore aviation-related books. Participants who complete its “Earn Your Wings Reading Challenge” can earn free admission to the 2026 air show. The program combines reading with hands-on activities and opportunities to meet pilots, encouraging curiosity about flight and introducing children to possibilities in science, technology, engineering and mathematics.
The 2026 Florida International Air Show will take place Nov. 7-8 at Punta Gorda Airport. Scheduled performers include Deliu, Bill Culberson flying the MiG-17, Rick Sharpe flying the TA-4J Skyhawk, Kevin Coleman, Franklin’s Flying Circus and The Chuters Jump Team. The weekend will also feature aircraft displays, STEM activities, food vendors and family entertainment. For tickets and information, visit www.floridaairshow.com or call 941-368-4430.
