The United States Navy Blue Angels will headline

the 2009 Florida International Air Show. It will be the team’s 11th visit to the Southwest Florida event. The Navy precision flying team made the announcement today in Las Vegas at the Annual International Council of Air Shows Convention.

The Blue Angels fly the F/A-18 Hornet. The Hornet is the first dual-role fighter/attack aircraft serving on the nation's front lines of defense. The team will be starting their 63rd year and flying this aircraft for the 23rd straight year in 2009.

In addition to our Featured Performers the Blue Angels, the following Performers are currently scheduled to appear at the 2009 Florida International AirShow.

Weekend AirShows

for March 21 and 22, 2009

  • Gates Should Open for the Saturday and Sunday AirShows at 9:00 A.M.
  • Flying Starts - 10:00 AM
  • Opening Ceremonies - 12:00 Noon

Scheduled to appear at the 29th Anniversary Florida International AirShow is; Michael Goulian, Special Operations Jump team, F-15 & F-16 Military Demo Teams, Dan Buchanan, Panchito B-25J Mitchell Bomber, Air Force Reserve Jet Car, American Double Trouble Barnstormer (Dual wing walkers), John Mohr & Greg Koontz Barnstorming, and as the Event Announcer Danny Clisham.

 

Entry Restrictions

At the AirShow Entrance Gates

  • By Order of the U.S. Department of Homeland Security:
    Any person accessing the secure or Air Operations area of the Airport through this Gate is subject to search by the TSA of his or her person and accessible property, pursuant to Title 49 USC § 44903 ...

While on Operational Airport property:

  • All Carry-in items and persons are subject to search
  • All unattended bags and items will be removed from the premises
  • Cameras may be used to monitor the facility

Weapon Prohibitation

  • Individuals are prohibited from carrying firearms, electronic stunning devices, or explosives on Airport Property.

For your convenience:

SAFETY IS ALWAYS OUR FIRST CONCERN

Please remember that you are on an operational airport. Any and all requests made by the staff or the announcers must be honored for security and safety. Do not enter any Restricted Area and please, KNOW WHERE YOUR CHILDREN ARE AT ALL TIMES.

We do not allow pets, coolers, cans, bottles, alcohol, tents, awnings, firearms, bicycles, skateboards, golf carts or any items which we consider to be a safety hazard to performers, spectators or property within the fenced show area.

For your comfort we strongly suggest that you bring lawn chairs, sun glasses, sunscreen and wear a hat. Drink plenty of water…..it can be hot out there.

Do not litter! Please be careful about leaving any trash such as cups, straws, plastic bottles, etc. lying around the show area. There items could be blown into the auto and aircraft parking and movement areas, causing a potential safety hazard and damage.

The Static displays are there for your enjoyment. Look as much as you want to but please don’t touch them. Also, it’s easy for people to accidentally walk into parked aircraft and vehicles while looking at something else.

Please be aware; there is NO SMOKING !!! allowed anywhere while in the Air Operations Area (AOA). The Air Operations Area is anywhere inside the Entrance Gates of the Florida International AirShow. You will be given a hand stamp so that you can exit the gate temporarily and have a Smoke Break. Please enjoy the AirShow; Safely.
